ENCAUSTIC PAINTING AND COLLAGE

Much of my encaustic pieces center around photo transfers representing people and places I have known, remembrances of far off places like the Tableau at Sevilla, the excitement of Gitano music and dance; or my Neopolitan grandfather whose personality was born out of a seeming house of mirrors. A buffalo hunt on the Great Plains takes me back to a simple - or is it more complex? - time. It is through this medium that I invoke whimsy from a band of lady birds out for a night away from the kids.
